The Diocese of Oakland has shared an important message from Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ regarding the Mission Alignment Process (MAP) and upcoming changes affecting several parish communities throughout the Diocese.
These decisions come after years of consultation, reflection, and prayer as the Diocese responds to changing realities, including declining parish participation, fewer priests, and financial challenges. While these changes may be difficult and emotional for many families, Bishop Barber reminds us that the Church is not simply a building, but a community of faith united in Christ.
We invite everyone to read the Bishop’s message and join us in praying for all parish communities and families affected by these changes. May we continue to welcome one another with compassion, faith, and hope as we walk together as one Church.

La Diócesis de Oakland ha compartido un importante mensaje del Obispo Michael C. Barber, SJ sobre el Proceso de Alineación de la Misión (MAP) y los próximos cambios que afectarán a varias comunidades parroquiales dentro de la Diócesis.
Estas decisiones llegan después de años de consulta, reflexión y oración, mientras la Diócesis responde a nuevas realidades, incluyendo la disminución en la participación parroquial, menos sacerdotes y desafíos financieros.
